We are overlooked by older generations, because they are more worried about issues that impact them.
We are being given the opportunity to speak up now, so it is changing.
It is going to get louder with every generation, so they might as well start listening now.
I think there is so much evidence of young people not being listened to that it makes young people not want to speak up. Young people can forget the times young people’s opinions have been valued.
Young people can disagree but all of those voices should be listened to. It is ok to think differently, but it is not alright to think quietly if you want to be heard.
I think it became really easy for decision makers to just go with what they think, but now there is more diversity and they are hopefully realising they need to work with us.
The good things young people do should be recognised and celebrated. The main stories in the media are negative about stabbings and things. Those stories are focused on, but they don’t provide anything for young people to do instead. Even with those barriers, young people are still absolutely thriving mate 😁.
3 main points:
- We have opinions that matter
- We want to be involved
- listen to us 😊
