Weekly update - 20th to 24th January

Here are the weekly updates for everything that happened at our session on Monday:

Most of our session was dedicated to one of our members sharing their skills for their Arts Award… crocheting! We all found it to be a very fun and relaxing experience, and we shared a very memorable experience together.

We’re also going to go to the Swindon 105.5 radio station next week for our tour, as well as picking up another member who wants to join our club! I can’t wait!

Our older group is starting in a couple of weeks’ time, so all children aged 17-25 can go. If you’re around the age of 17, you can choose to be in either the younger group or older group. Of course, you can still join either groups if you’re younger or older than that, there’s no limit, but you may find the group that’s for your age a little more appropriate.

Leaving that aside, it’s time to move on to the next section of the blog.

Social media

It’s a novelty that a lot of people use. The older generation usually use social media websites like Facebook, X, and YouTube, whilst the younger generation use social media apps like TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and more. Social media comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, from messaging sites to games, multi-media platforms for sharing music, videos, and photos, on websites or on apps. Social media can be dangerous if you’re not sure how to use it, but positive in a lot of ways too. It can allow people to talk to others across vast distances, and it can help people feel more comfortable when speaking to their friends.

When you’re online, you should always be wary of strangers. Word of advice: if you’re ever cyber-bullied online, don’t bother typing back! Just leave the conversation immediately and report them to the ‘cyber authorities’ if you can! If you ever feel sorry for abruptly leaving the conversation and leaving them hanging, don’t. Just think this: ‘I don’t need this person in my life.’ Make sure not to spend too much time on your phone, too. It’s healthy for the brain to read a good book or go out for a walk once in a while.

One more thing:

Be mindful of the influence of unkind people, their negativity can affect you. Surround yourself with those who lift you up, not pull you down.
